### মন্দিরের নাম সোমনাথ মন্দির যেটি ভারতের গুজরাটে অবস্থিত। বারবার ধ্বংসপ্রাপ্ত সোমনাথ মন্দিরের ছবিটি (উর্দ্ধে প্রদর্শিত) তোলা হয়েছিল ১৮৬৯ সালে। শোনা যায়, প্রাচীনকালে সোমনাথ মন্দির সোনার ছিল কিন্তু বেশ কয়েকবার বহিরাগত মুসলিম আক্রমণকারীরা মন্দিরে হামলা চালিয়ে যাবতীয় রত্নভাণ্ডার লুট করে নিয়ে যায়। তারপর সনাতনী রাজাগণ পুননির্মাণ করেন। কিন্তু আবারও তা ধ্বংস করা হয়। এখন যে সোমনাথ মন্দির দেখা যায় (উর্দ্ধে প্রদর্শিত), তা পাথরের নির্মিত হয়েছে ১৯৪৭ সালে ভারত স্বাধীন হওয়ার পরে। তবে এই মন্দিরটি আবার স্বর্ণমন্দিরে রূপান্তরিত করা হয়েছ। মন্দিরের গর্ভগৃহে বসানো হলো সোনার দরজা। অক্ষয় তৃতীয়ার দিনই সোনা দিয়ে গর্ভগৃহ মোড়ার কাজ শেষ করা হয়। সোমনাথ ট্রাস্টের পক্ষ থেকে খবরটি জানানো হয়েছে, গুজরাটের সোমনাথ মন্দিরে ১০০ কেজি সোনা দান করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছিলেন মুম্বাইয়ের এক ভক্ত। তিন বছর ধরে সেই প্রতিশ্রুতি পালন করেন তিনি কথা মতো ১০০ কেজি সোনা দান করেছেন। গত দুই বছরে তিনি ৬০ কেজি সোনা দান করেন। ওই সোনা দিয়ে মন্দিরের ত্রিশূল, ডমরু, ধ্বজাদণ্ড ও শিখর সোনা দিয়ে মোড়া হয়েছে। সম্প্রতি ওই দাতা দিলীপভাই লখি বাকি ৪০ কেজি সোনা দান করেন।
